Basics of a Successful Skin-Care Routine

A basic skin care routine should include three steps to be successful:

  1. Soap (aka cleanser, wash, scrub, suds)
  2. Moisturizer (aka cream, mask, gel, balm)
  3. Sun protection (aka sunscreen, sun cream, sunblock, tanning lotion)

1. Wash with Soap

Wash your face morning and night with a gentle soap. If your face grows dry (flaky, itchy) or oily (shiny, reflective), try another cleanser. There are hundreds to choose from, and one will certainly work for you.

3. Sun Protection

Many moisturizers have some level of sun protection built-in. If yours does not, look for a sunscreen that works against both UVA and UVB rays with an SPF of at least 30.
